I love wooden toys and in my opinion, today’s plastic toys aren’t a patch on these!
Next time I’m in Bangalore, I’ll try to make a trip to Chennapatna.

My sympathies; I also suffer from heat triggered migraines.

Fantabulous post. Everytime I go home to Mysore, I would definitely make a stop to one of these toy shops. BUt, I have never been to toy factory may be next time I will plan it. Laquered toys of Channapatna are very famous. As a small child I had many playthings from this small town. Nice to see it here. Kamat lokruchi oota ..umm I am drooling now

I have passed through Chennapatna several times but since I dont have any contacts, couldnt visit any factory..But I do have some wooden chennapatna toys

The wooden toys look so colourful and innocent. It is so sad that these days our kids only run after Barbie’s n Ben 10’s! But is it really their fault? I think as parents we must introduce them to these toys….or else in a few years we’ll only see these toys in the museums. Good work Roma. The pictures are looking fabulous! Specially the “Artisans of Chennapatna”…Good composition.
